Being surrounded by over 200 buildings and 20,000 students sprawled across the largest campus in Korea sounds cool until you have to walk 7 minutes uphill to get to class. :-(
"I swear, our school is like a giant StairMaster"
- kyleen, while hiking up to class
To commemorate our first day, we each took a photo with SNU's most iconic structure on campus, its Main Gate. The odd shape derives from the combination of the three first consonants in 국립 서울 대학교 (Seoul National University), ‘ㄱ’, ‘ㅅ’, ‘ㄷ’. SNU's motto is "Veritas Lux Mea" - Latin for "Truth is my light" - which is why the gate is shaped like a key, symbolizing that the truth is key. It also lights up at night. !
Courses & Registration
Something that I truly miss about UH Manoa is their registration system. We definitely take STAR for granted, as SNU's registration site was i n c r e d i b l y (and I c a n n o t s t r e s s this enough) frustrating.
Once accepted into SNU, you are assigned a student id number and whether the last digit of your student id number is odd or even determines your registration period. There are initially only two days to register for your courses. Students whose last digit were odd went on the first day (and of course, with my luck, I got an even one). You also have to register for one class at a time, and after your registration day is over, you are not allowed to make any changes until school starts.
My (tentative) schedule consists of 5 courses spread across Monday - Wednesday.

cheers to 4-day weekends (my legs need it)
